Year 1992

Foundation Stone Laid for ROYAL Production

The vision for an international-standard building material manufacturing brand in West Africa began with the laying of ROYAL’s foundation stone in Suleja, Niger State, Nigeria — marking the birth of a legacy rooted in innovation and quality.

Year 1995

Commencement of ROYAL Ceramic Tiles  and Sanitary Wares

Production officially kicked off, introducing ROYAL ceramic tiles and sanitary wares to the market—setting new standards for beauty and durability in construction materials.

Incorporation of West African Ceramics Ltd

West African Ceramics Ltd was formally established, consolidating operations under the ROYAL brand and driving strategic growth across Nigeria and West Africa.

Year 2009

First Vitrified Tiles Produced in Nigeria

WACL became the first manufacturer to produce vitrified tiles locally under the brand name ROYAL — revolutionizing the tile industry with high-density, low-porosity solutions tailored to African environments.

Factory Expansion to Ajaokuta (Kogi State)

Following our early success in Suleja, Niger State, ROYAL strategically expanded operations to Ajaokuta—establishing a large-scale facility with enhanced production capability and stronger ties to local communities.

New Corporate Identity for the ROYAL Brand

A redesigned brand identity was unveiled to reflect ROYAL’s evolution, embodying its commitment to excellence, modern design, and international standards.

                           Launch of Digital Tile Production                      with SACMI Technology

ROYAL became the first in Nigeria to launch digital tile printing, powered by advanced Italian SACMI technology. This innovation enabled more detailed designs and was paired with a major expansion in production capacity.

Launch of Royal Engineered Stones Ltd

ROYAL ventured into the marble and granite segment with the launch of Royal Engineered Stones Ltd — a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the production of premium marble and granite tiles and slabs.

Launch of ROYAL Barge Delivery Operation from Ajaokuta to Onitsha

ROYAL introduced a dedicated barge delivery system connecting its Ajaokuta facility in Kogi State to Onitsha, Anambra State, via inland waterways. This strategic logistics solution marked a major leap in sustainable and cost-effective distribution of ROYAL brand of products across Nigeria.

              Introduction of ROYAL Light Gauge Steel Profiles

Expanding beyond surface finishes, ROYAL introduced Light Gauge Steel (LGS) framing systems, delivering innovative structural solutions for modern construction. Manufactured with state-of-the-art equipment, these profiles are designed for a wide range of applications including roof structures, wall partitions, as well as interior and exterior fit-outs.
